What are some ways to raise money...other than the traditional car wash and bake sale?

i am volunteering with my church group to go to new orleans next summer and help rebuild it. but we need to raise approx.$12000 (so every one can go) by next year at this time! What are some ways to raise money...other than the traditional car wash and bake sale?

Have a ';patty drop';. You take an area, fence it in, mark it off in grids, sell chances on each grid with the winner getting a $50 prize. Then you put a cow in the area, and the first square she poops in is the winner. Wait a fews weeks and do it again. Depending on how many squares you have and the price you charge for a chance, you can make a lot of money.
get several groups together(businesses, high school teams, etc) and have a volleyball/softball tournament. The teams are charged so much per person, you provide T-shirts, food by getting local businesses to donate these items.

Church Bingo is always a good one

Good luck %26amp; God Bless!
Try having a ';garage'; or ';Yard'; sale. Everyone knows that one persons junk is another's treasure. We all have something in our house or garage to donate. I am sure your church group as well as the parishioner's do also. Good Luck and God Bless
Have a summer fair, contact local business for donation prizes...create face painting get a local band to donate some time. lot's of things can be going on, and it is a fantastic way to introduce locals to each other.
Contact someone who sells: Avon, Pampered Chef, Mary Kay, Home %26amp; Garden, etc. All of them have fundraising project that they will help you with.
